Renting a chalet in Serre Chevalier Valley can seem straightforward, but between location, capacity and amenities, certain choices make all the difference between a good stay and a truly memorable one.
The owners' perspective
"Since renovating Chalet Mont Milo, we've helped dozens of families and groups of friends prepare their holiday every year. We're sharing their questions and our answers here, to help you shape your ideal stay."

In Serre Chevalier Valley, most rentals are apartments. On paper, they often show the right numbers, 8 or 10 beds, an attractive price.
In reality, a group that size in an apartment often means too little space, too little privacy, and living areas that feel crowded from the first evening.
An independent chalet changes the experience completely, large open volumes, bedrooms spread across several levels, a private terrace, exclusive amenities. The chalet becomes the heart of the stay, not just a place to sleep.
Chalet Mont Milo
At Chalet Mont Milo, 160 m² entirely private, no shared neighbours, no shared spaces. A living room with a pellet stove, an open kitchen, a panoramic terrace, a sauna and a games room, all yours for the whole stay.
See our chalet to rent in Serre Chevalier ValleyThis is one of the most underestimated points. Many properties advertise a maximum capacity, without specifying the real comfort level.
At 8 people, you're looking for comfort and space. At 10, you're looking for the balance between togetherness and privacy. It's not the same setup, the chalet needs to be designed for it, not just sized for it.
Whether for a group of 8 or a larger group of 10, the challenge is the same, everyone should find their place, together and apart.
Being right at the foot of the slopes isn't always the best choice. In a resort, access is immediate, but noise, density and bustle usually come with it.
In a hamlet or village, calm is total, the view is open and the mountain immersion complete. The ideal compromise, and it's rare, is a chalet close to the slopes without the drawbacks of the resort.
Chalet Mont Milo: the best of both worlds
Our chalet sits at 1,400 m altitude in the old hamlet of Pramorel. Here, you'll enjoy absolute calm, a preserved larch forest and open views over the peaks. The Chantemerle and Prorel lifts are just a 5-minute drive away. And for those who'd rather not get back behind the wheel, our private shuttle (optional) drops you right at the foot of the Luc Alphand run in Chantemerle, and brings you back in the evening. Find all the details on our Services & Concierge page.
Some amenities aren't simple bonuses, they're genuine experience accelerators. They deserve particular attention depending on the season of your stay.
In winter, a private sauna, an equipped ski-room, a games room or a big table to share a meal for 10, these are the details that create lasting memories.
In summer, the criteria change: can you set off hiking or cycling straight from the chalet? A secure bike space and immediate trail access radically transform your days. Our guide to summer in the mountains in Serre Chevalier covers all the activities right from the chalet.
Always check that these amenities are included in the price, not offered as an option. As for parking, private parking and an EV charging point make life easier in any season.
Chalet Mont Milo: designed for every season
We designed Chalet Mont Milo to meet each of these needs. From the first snowfall, you'll enjoy the private sauna, the equipped ski-room and the games room. Come summer, the chalet becomes the direct starting point for your hikes and carries the official Accueil Vélo label. And its terrace becomes the gathering point for the whole tribe, facing the Grand Aréa.
For your comfort, private parking and a 22 kW charging point are available. This access is entirely free for any direct booking.
A successful family stay is a chalet where the children have their own space, the parents have their privacy, and the whole tribe gathers around a big table in the evening.
That requires the layout to be thought through from the start. A family chalet rental in Serre Chevalier should be designed for this way of living, not adapted afterwards.
Chalet Mont Milo: designed for every generation
With us, every detail has been designed to make life easier for parents and delight children. The chalet includes full equipment for little ones (travel cot, high chair, safety gate) as well as a genuine games room for shared moments.
Outside, we provide sledges so you can glide freely across the wide snowy fields surrounding the chalet, while ESF ski school lessons are just a 5-minute drive away.
Renting a mountain chalet is a precious commitment. To avoid unpleasant surprises, stay alert to these four common pitfalls:
A single misstep on any of these points can spoil your holiday, even if the chalet looks idyllic in photos.
A successful chalet rental in Serre Chevalier rests on three inseparable pillars: the right space, the right location and the right amenities. Always take the time to talk with the owner before finalising your booking.
Also demand clear, transparent financial terms, written in black and white, not a vague formula. At Chalet Mont Milo, we've applied a reassuring framework for years:
Take the time to read our 90+ verified reviews as well as our detailed rates before deciding. And always favour booking direct for the best conditions.
The hamlet of Pramorel offers the best balance, the calm of an authentic village at 1,400 m altitude, just 5 minutes from the Chantemerle and Prorel lifts. Away from the resort's bustle, but with strategic access to the ski area.
For a group of 6 to 10, a chalet makes the most sense, more generous spaces, complete independence, exclusive amenities (sauna, games room, ski room). An apartment can work for 2 to 4 people, but quickly becomes limiting beyond that.
Genuinely comfortable 10-person chalets are rare in Serre Chevalier. Check that the 10 beds correspond to 5 real bedrooms with double or single beds, not sofa beds or converted spaces. School holiday weeks book out 6 to 8 months in advance.
Not necessarily, a 5-minute drive is often more comfortable than ski-in/ski-out in a resort, especially with young children or gear to carry. What matters is having private parking and a ski room so you can head out each morning without hassle. An optional private shuttle also lets you reach the foot of the slopes directly, without getting back in the car.
Booking direct guarantees the best price, platforms like Airbnb or Abritel always apply their commission, around 15% more. You'll also enjoy exclusive perks like free access to our 22 kW EV charging point. But beyond the price, a direct booking gives you a personal exchange with the owner from the moment you confirm, insider tips, help preparing your stay, flexibility on certain requests. A human relationship platforms can't replace.
January-February for powder and optimal snow cover. March for spring skiing with sunshine and lively terraces. In summer, June and September offer ideal conditions for hiking, cycling and rafting, with more accessible rates than peak winter season.
A 30% deposit secures your booking. The €1,000 security deposit is paid by bank transfer 3 days before arrival and returned at departure. Cancellation is fully refunded up to 60 days before the start of the stay.
